It was the best of times...it was the worst of times: 2008

-Realizing that guy looks like a tool...and then realizing you do too: priceless.-Why some people should not leave the confines of their home.
-One of my personal favorite crack attacks.
-If not here, where shall we go?
-An undershirt might be a necessary investment in 95 degree weather.
-Oprah listed UGAstyle as #1 on her favorite things.
-Moderation is key... R.I.P. Burberry: victim of brand overkill.
-Best FUPA of 2008.

-Getting beauty sleep shouldn't be restricted anywhere.
-Florida fan who lives up to the reputation.
-Hippy who is wearing a child's tank top and doesn't own a mirror.
-Grandpa and grandson taking a stroll to work off years of damage.
-Tinkerbell and Cruella de Vil get in a boxing ring...no one comes out a winner.
-This girl can't get enough of gold...perhaps a tribute to Michael Phelps?
-One ugly bag... I can look past. Two ugly bags...definitely catches my eye. Three...I simply shudder.
-One of the best looking people on planet Earth.
-Trashiest daytime attire award goes to this girl. Her parents must be so proud.
-Some trends don't work for everyone...this girl takes a vest and successfully butchers her midsection.
-Halloween contest winner Deb from Napolean Dynamite.
-These girls take the mystery out of deciding who looks better by just going out in the same outfit. Simply brilliant.
-Dipping in class.... terribly disgusting and cringe-worthy.
-Grandma has skidmarks and we are all going to hell for not bothering to tell her.

Santa Claus has the right idea. Visit people once a year.

-Happy holidays and remember to double check that your grandmother included a gift receipt with that sweater .

If a clock goes hungry...does it go back four seconds?

-Whoever this girl's "friends" are... are all liars for telling her it is acceptable to look like this in public.

Can I have your picture so I can show Santa what I want for Christmas?

-Ahmed (25, from Sudan) kicks it old school with classic Adidas sneakers and makes a true personal style statement with a bright graffiti hoodie. My personal favorite is the legit tape on the side of his glasses. It came as no surprise that he is a musician... he just happens to be the drummer of one of the hippest and coolest bands (with style out of this world) to come from Athens: Of Montreal (www.ofmontreal.net).
-Michelle (18, from Athens, GA) and Taylor (18, from Atlanta, GA) do last minute holiday shopping and acknowledge the freakishly warm weather without dressing out of context. Michelle's cardigan is amazing and can be worn every season in hundreds of ways. I'm sure she has gotten her money's worth out of it, I know I could.
-Jacob (24, from Dahlonega, GA) is the quintessential not-trying-to-be-fashionable guy, and yet he just can't help himself. I think it must be the derby hat? That, matched with an effortless and crisp look...something about that derby hat makes him so cool he doesn't even recognize it.

For the Love of Labels: The Art of Designer Ready-to-Wear....graces Athens!

-Lions and tigers and bears, Oh my! Bill Blass, Coco Chanel, Oscar de la Renta, Mariano Fortuny, Claire McCardell, Mary McFadden and others grace your presence and captivate you at this tasteful exhibition.
-These vintage dresses make the evolution of art and fashion translate into the 21st century effortlessly. The handywork and attention to detail would make any woman wearing these garments feel regal.
-I can see Pharell and Justin Timberlake rock this look: Men may not have taken as many risks in the past, but infamous designer Bill Blass allowed men to have fashion freedom even in the 20th century.
-Some styles go in and out of fashion- but this is classic. So beautiful, so chic, it stands the test of time.
-Christian Louboutin and Stuart Weitzman have always made women beautiful, and there is a reason they are still around: they last and will always be in fashion. If it weren't for the price, every woman deserves a pair.

You can get all A's and still flunk life.

-Kyler (21, from Athens, GA) gives dressing like a gentleman justice. He looks extremely put together without compromising his casual character. He oozes quality and style.
-This penguin is getting some fresh air and aerobic exercise by playing frisbee. It must be so wonderful for him in this weather...but surely he must be burning up! (click on photo to enlarge)
-Mary-Kerstin (19, from Savannah, GA) plays up simple gray on a rainy day with fun but not loud accessories. She balances the fun of wearing trendy items without going overboard.
-Brian (22, from Atlanta, GA) skates around campus and makes it look so easy to be so effortlessly cool.

I once bought my kids a set of batteries for Christmas with a note on it saying, toys not included.

the best part- the tackiest outfit that graces the College Avenue location wins a $250 gift certificate.

The tackier the better.

What do you call people who are afraid of Santa Claus? Claustrophobic.

HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE:
Dynamite:
-With enough selection to suit any personality, pick a funny belt buckle for your best guy or girl friend. It is the perfect fit for anyone- and best of all: you don't need to know their size.
-Wearing a hat can transform anyone: hide a bad hair day or make them look cooler than they really are. Sweatbands and old-school bucket hats also allow that special someone to channel their inner Run DMC.

Menagerie:
-These boots were made for walking, and are not something you would automatically think to give. A vintage pair would make a lasting impression on that special someone. If they happen to have the size you need, the lucky recipient will think of you with every step they take.
-One-of-a-kind jewelry for your mom, aunt, or best friend. Every piece tells a story: select from a wide range of brooches, earrings, rings, and so much more.

Flirt:
-For the drink enthusiast: a flask "I used to jog...but the ice kept falling out of my glass" or a wine glass that says "put your big girl panties on and deal with it". I am sure everyone has a friend who would enjoy this gift to the last drop.
-For the clumsy friend with a sense of humor: constantly spilling tampons in public can be a little less humiliating: a tampon case is the perfect cover-up for an inevitable situation.

The Red Dress Boutique:
-You cannot go wrong with the gift of warmth: an organic quilted scarf with fringe in bright and fun colors...perfect for almost anyone.
-Lolly bands: this SCREAMS stocking stuffer... cute underwear in even cuter packaging.

McColly's:
-Seychelles holiday shoes are perfect for the fashionista who doesn't want... but needs something fantastic this season. Order your size online: www.shopmccollys.com.
-Hanky Pankys: possibly the greatest invention next to the wheel, sliced bread, and bottled water. Do yourself or your best girlfriend a favor and let Hanky Pankys make the day look a little smoother, above and below the surface.

You are waiting for the bus and someone asks, "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here?

-Alejandro (23, from Fayetteville, GA) and Sara (18, from Fayetteville, GA) are the chicest siblings in town. Their mother, Fernanda, should be very proud to see her offspring keeping warm and looking great doing it.
-The beauty of American constitution: freedom of speech...go dawgs!
-Sojourner (22, From Tallahassee, FL) makes a cold day a few degrees warmer with her genuine and quirky style. (And the best part: her L.L. Bean bag is monogramed "TRUTH"...very cool)
-Being well dressed must be contagious among friends: Erin (22, from Atlanta, GA), Josh (22, from Calhoun, GA) and Rachel (20, from Atlanta, GA) have the pandemic fashion flu..and I embrace this plague with open arms.
-Not kidding: the same classy gentleman from my October 8th entry was caught dipping in class again. I am currently mourning his gums and dignity.
